The next stop on our tour is Bijelo Polje (Montenegro), where on 31.10. the music workshop Bing Bang Bong by Zavod Kuskus from Ljubljana will take place. The day after, on 1.11. the puppetry performance “Prehistoric Girl” from the National Theatre “Toša Jovanović” in Zrenjanin will be performed!
“Prehistoric Girl”, based on the novel of the same name by Serbian writer Desanka Maksimović, tells the story of a girl named Gava and her fight for a better and fairer world. This puppetry performance, which speaks of the coexistence between humans and nature, is crafted from natural materials, the same ones that existed and were used in the time and place where Gava lived. However, the significance of this story lies in the fact that it transcends the concepts of time and space, showing us that what happened to Gava thousands of years ago is still relevant to our lives today.
Performed in a made-up, universal language that everyone can understand, regardless of who they are or where they come from, “Prehistoric Girl” celebrates diversity, speaks of the power of unity in overcoming challenges, and reminds us that humanity is just a part of nature.
“Bing Bang Bong” is a music workshop aimed at teaching participants how to create music and musical instruments from natural and recycled materials. This workshop will be led by Slovenian artist Peter Kus in the Center for the Culture ”Vojislav Bulatović Strujno”, 1.11. in 13h.
Following the lecture-performance “Make-believe – A Lecture on The Substitute” in Čakovec, the performance of “Prehistoric Girl” in Bijelo Polje and workshop Bing Bang Bong represent another activity within our newest platform project, From the First Step: A Rooted Tour, which aims to offer diverse cultural content on the themes of inclusion, diversity, and climate change to communities in border and multi-ethnic areas.
Stay with us until the next stop!
